Programme's specific access requirements
Once the access requirements demanded by R.D. 99/2011 are accomplished, the Programme’s Commission for Academic and Quality matters will proceed with the selection and admission of candidates. The assessment of the candidates’ merits will be based on the following criteria:
The level of English will be assessed by providing certificates such as IELTS (International English Language Testing System), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), FCE (First Certificate in English) or CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English), or any other national or internationally recognized. It is highly recommended a level equivalent to B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Language. Nevertheless the lack of proving documents does not imply the exclusion from the selection process and, in this case, the interview will be carried out in English language in order to assess the level of proficiency and fluency for understanding and speaking. In case of doubt, concerning admission of graduates or other candidates whose training and experience diverges from research lines of the programme, the candidates might be admitted prior to the achievement of any of the Complementary training activities addressed by the CAP (see “Planning”), for them to acquire the necessary training to join the Doctoral Programme. Part-time students The Academic Commission for the Programme will pay special attention to the letter of motivation requested to the candidates, showing their interest on the Doctoral Programme and reasoning the election of the specific topic they would carry out their research work in case of being selected. In addition, these candidates will have to present an explanatory report of their working plan, endorsed by any of teachers of the Programme, to the CAP. The Doctoral Programme envisages the shift from a part-time to a full-time basis commitment and vice versa. In both cases, the student will submit for evaluation by the CAP a reasoned application for the change, together with an explanatory report endorsed by his/her thesis work advisor, in which the modifications and corrective actions to be implemented in the working plan must be explained. Having regard to the application and the accompanying report, the Commission will decide on the appropriateness of the change of commitment time.
